Historic Landmarks Commission
The Camden Historic Landmarks Commission was created to help protect, preserve and enhance the distinctive architectural and cultural heritage of the state’s oldest inland city. The Commission reviews requests for modifications to locally designated historic properties to ensure projects are consistent with the Camden Design Guidelines. Projects reviewed include alterations and demolition of existing buildings as well as the construction of new buildings. It is the hope of the City that by encouraging a general harmony of style, form, proportion and material between buildings of historic design and those of contemporary design, the City’s historic buildings and historic districts will continue to be a distinctive aspect of the City of Camden and will serve as visible reminders of the significant historical and cultural heritage of the City and the State.
