Guide to City of Camden Historic District

This “area” map simplifies Camden’s enormous historic area into nine “touring” districts – and each district is a special attraction in itself. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, this District encompasses more than 50 contributing places, sites and objects. Be your own tour guide as you encounter historic markers, homes, cemeteries, and more dating back to the Revolutionary War period. Use the interactive map to navigate to historic markers and other places of interest throughout the nine touring districts.

Boykin Spaniel Puppy Tour

Boykin Spaniel Puppy Tour is fun family exploration that helps you experience a variety of attractions and sites within historic Camden. Featuring 12 bronze statues of Boykin Spaniels – South Carolina’s State Dog.  Stop in the Camden Archives and Museum or the Camden Visitor Center to get started.

Find all twelve puppies, take your picture with the puppies and post them to our Facebook page or bring them to the Revolutionary War Visitor Center at 212 Broad Street.  Everyone who finds all of the puppies will receive a Certificate of Discovery. Super fun. Distinctly Camden.

Historic Camden Tour

The Historic Camden Foundation provides a variety of tours on and around the original settlement of Camden in the 1700s. They provide visitors the opportunity to engage in history by touring historic buildings and houses on site. This includes both Self-Guided Tours and Guided Tours. Tickets can be purchased at Historic Camden 222 Broad Street, or the Kershaw & Co. Gift Shop at neighboring Revolutionary War Visitor Center.

Camden Battlefield is one of the most well-preserved Revolutionary War battlefields and a must-see for any history enthusiast. Located 8 miles north of Downtown Camden at 1698 Flat Rock Road. Self-guided tours are free, Guided Tours can be booked at Historic Camden.
