The City of Camden serves approximately 6,900 water customers an average of 2.5 million gallons of water per day. Raw water is drawn from Lake Wateree and pumped to the water treatment facility, which has a treatment capacity of 6 million gallons per day. To ensure your water meets health requirements, we use sampling and testing methodologies approved by the EPA and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. Our water service area encompasses all properties within city limits and immediately surrounding areas. We have over 166 miles of water mains and transmission lines ranging from 0.75 inch to 36 inches in diameter. We also maintain four elevated water storage tanks with a total capacity of 1.1 million gallons.
Our sewer or wastewater system provides the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater for over 3,950 customers. Our sewer service area encompasses all properties within city limits and two miles east along Hwy # 1. We have over 84 Miles of gravity lines, 14 miles of sewer force main, and lift stations. The City also operates an award-winning wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 4 million gallons a day, placed into operation in February 2014.
