Every Dog Has Its Day in Camden, SC!
Every dog has its day and South Carolina’s State Dog, the Boykin Spaniel, is about to have an entire weekend of fun as Camden celebrates the beloved breed with a fun-filled series of events. Hundreds of Boykin Spaniels and their owners literally invade Camden for the National Field Trial – where Boykin Spaniels test their skills in the field and on the water.
Dog lovers will enjoy a range of other events including dog shows, an oyster roast, food trucks and art exhibits celebrating our beloved state dog. And don’t forget about the Boykin Spaniel Invasion Scavenger Hunt, where you can find all twelve of the bronze puppies scattered through Downtown Camden. Fun for the whole family!

Experience The Trials
The Boykin Spaniel Society returns to Camden and Boykin for their annual National Field Championships. This will be an action packed weekend with something for everyone in your family. Activities include the Duck Dog Shootout, Hot Dog Retrieve, Speed Dog, Children’s Handling Stake and of course the ever popular Natural Ability stake. Join hundreds of dog owners and spectators for the show which is open to the public.

Enjoy your fill of steamy, delicious oysters you can handle at the Boykin Oyster Roast or enjoy one of the many food trucks serving up tasty treats all throughout the week. And if that’s not enough, Camden’s restaurants and bars will be open for business and ready to serve!
Hunt For Boykin Arts, Culture and Stories
Downtown Camden will be alive with art displays, tours and museum exhibits at the Camden Historic Revolutionary War Park, The Boykin Broom Store, Old McCaskill’s Farm, and the Camden Archives and Museum to name just a few. And don’t miss the Boykin Spaniel Invasion Scavenger Hunt experience as well…fun for the whole family while supporting local shops and merchants.
Little Brown Dog Exhibit at Camden Archives
Don’t miss the special Boykin Spaniel “Little Brown Dog” exhibit at the Camden Archives & Museum which highlights the history of the state’s official breed and one of only a few breeds to originate in the United States. The first of its kind, the exhibit takes visitors back in time to celebrate The Boykin.

Boykin Spaniel Invasion scavenger hunt in Downtown Camden
Did you know that that Boykin Spaniel is South Carolina’s official state dog? A big treat during Boykin Spaniel Week the hunt for Boykin Spaniel Puppies in Downtown Camden. See if you can find all twelve of the puppies, take your picture with the puppies and post them to our Facebook page or bring them to the Revolutionary War Visitor Center at 212 Broad Street. Everyone who finds all of the puppies will receive a Certificate of Discovery.
