Multiple community organizations will gather, alongside community officials and student representatives from across Kershaw County, to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday during the 5th annual MLK Unity Day Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026.

The celebration will kick off at 11 a.m. with a gathering at the African American Cultural Center of Camden, located at 517 York St. Following the gathering, attendees will proceed with a commemorative march at 11:30 a.m., ending at Camden City Hall, 1000 Lyttleton St., where the celebration program will commence at noon. This year’s theme is “His Dream Is Ours.”

The event is organized each year by the Concerned Citizens of Kershaw County (CCKC), in partnership with the Camden-Kershaw County Branch of the NAACP, Unity in the Community, Concerned Clergy of Kershaw County, the African American Cultural Center of Camden, and the City of Camden.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the program at City Hall. Organizations, chapters and civic groups are invited to march. And donors or sponsors of this celebration of unity are invited to call MLK Unity Day Chair Ann Davis at 803-427-1077.
