Presented by Kathryn Smith
President George Washington’s 1791 Southern Tour was an extensive trip and marked his last formal visit to the original thirteen states. Washington’s goal was to unite the country by personally connecting with citizens across the young nation. His travels allowed him to experience the diverse landscapes, meet people, and even indulge in local spirits with a few cannon firings along the way. Journey with Kathryn Smith as we follow in President Washington’s footsteps and learn what he drank on his tour of the Southern states. (Cannon firing and libations not included.)
