Lyttleton Street Closed in Dusty Bend

Lyttleton Street is closed between Dicey Ford Road and Broad Street in Dusty Bend due to a water main break. All traffic is being detoured onto Dicey Ford Road until further notice. We will provide an update once the road is reopened. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Wild Turkey Lane remains closed, as does Kendall Park walking trail and Sweet Gum trail connector between Scott Park and Woodward Park.

If your home or business sustained damage as a result of the storm, please contact Director of Planning & Development Shawn Putnam at 803-432-2421 x1153 or putnam@camdensc.org.

Crews continue to clean up downed trees, limbs and other storm debris. We appreciate your continued patience and cooperation, as many neighborhoods experienced extensive tree debris falling during the storm and clean up is taking longer than normal weekly yard debris pickup.

A Day at the Center

September 21 @ 11:00 am - 3:30 pm

The African American Cultural Center and Concerned Citizens of Kershaw County invite the greater community to spend the day at the Center on Saturday, September 21. This open house and community gathering will include games for kids, storytelling, bingo, live music and entertainment for all, and community leaders and organizations providing information on our community’s most pertinent issues. Admission is free and open to the public. Food and beverages available for purchase.  Please bring your own lawn chair and family photos to be scanned and cataloged at the Camden Archives & Museum.

The African American Cultural Center of Camden exhibits artifacts and documents that examine and celebrate the lives and contributions of Camden’s African American community. The Center’s exhibits relate the stories of the African American experience here in Camden.

This day will also be an informative day to learn more about the components of the center and meet some of the 2024 candidates who will speak briefly about their platform for the upcoming November election.

The Community Day at the Center is just one of the many events the African American Cultural Center is hosting in September. Be sure to mark your calendar for the next “Let’s Talk About … Healing Through Reconciliation?” symposium at the Revolutionary War Visitor at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday September 14. Other events include a night of poetry and storytelling at Gallery 537, Tuesday, September 17 at 6:00 p.m. and “Artists in Sanctuary” at Camden Second Presbyterian Church on Sunday, September 22 at 2:00 p.m. We hope you can join in on all these events.

Organizations interested in participating in the day’s activities can call 803-432-2421 x1153 or 803-427-2894 or email kspadacenta@camdensc.org.
