Camden Gears Up for the 50th Running of the Colonial Cup
Two jockeys riding racehorses compete on a racetrack, one in pink and white with number 10, the other in blue and yellow with number 4, with blurred spectators in the background.

This weekend, Camden celebrates one of its signature traditions with extra flair: the 50th running of the Marion duPont Scott Colonial Cup on Sunday, November 23, preceded by a lively downtown warm-up on Saturday, November 22 with the Pre-Cup Block Party on Broad Street.

On Sunday at the Springdale Race Course, gates open at 9:00 a.m. for the milestone 50th edition of the Colonial Cup Races. Expect a full day of racing fun: kid zones, tailgating contests, best-dressed competitions, corgi races and more. The Holiday Market and Food Village opens at 9:15 am, the Kid’s Zone opens at 10 am, Corgi Races are at 11 am and the Opening Ceremonies are at 12:20 pm, with the first race post time at 1 pm.

But the celebration starts on Saturday in the heart of Camden’s downtown cultural district. Beginning at 3:00 p.m., the Pre-Cup Downtown Block Party steps off on Broad Street — complete with classic-car cruise-in, live music, food trucks, retro arcade games and extended shopping at local merchants.

Whether you’re a longtime racing fan, a family looking for festive fun, or a downtown explorer ready to soak up the atmosphere, this weekend offers something for everyone. Come early, dress for crisp November weather, bring a friend — and join in the tradition, the fun and the community spirit of Camden.
