CAMDEN, S.C. — Camden City Councilman William Wilkes is partnering with the Center for
Heirs’ Property to host two free educational seminars aimed at helping residents protect family
owned property, avoid potential heirs’ property issues and plan for the future.

The Estate Planning, Probate and Heirs’ Property seminars will provide practical information to
help families understand how property is passed from one generation to the next, what can
happen when there is no clear estate plan, and steps property owners can take now to protect
their land and preserve it for future generations.

“I am excited to partner with the Center for Heirs’ Property to bring these seminars to Camden.
Heirs’ property can present complicated and often unexpected challenges for families, and
understanding those issues before they arise can make an enormous difference,” Councilman
Wilkes said. “My goal is to give residents practical information, access to knowledgeable
resources, and the tools they need to protect their property, avoid heirs’ property issues, and
plan for the future with confidence.”

Residents will have two opportunities to attend:

Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026
10 a.m. to noon
Kirkwood Community Center
2401 Carlos Street
Camden, SC 29020

Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026
10 a.m. to noon
Robert Mills Courthouse
607 Broad Street
Camden, SC 29020

During the seminars, residents will learn about estate planning and probate, how heirs’ property
situations can develop, steps families can take to prevent or resolve property ownership
complications, and ways to protect and manage family-owned land so it can remain an asset for
generations to come.

The seminars are free and open to anyone interested in learning more about protecting family
property and planning for its future. Attendees will also learn about resources available through
the Center for Heirs’ Property.
