Let’s Talk About…The Color of Health

Join the African American Cultural Center for a health symposium focusing on personal health topics such as maternal care, men’s health, autism, and dementia. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with experts and explore diverse perspectives on these health issues, fostering awareness and understanding within the community.
The program will consist of experts in their field opening up the symposium with introductions, folllowed by a presentation from Susan Burroughs, MHA, FACHE, former Chief Executive Officer at MUSC Health – Columbia Medical Center Northeast. Ms. Burroughs also held executive roles at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center, focusing on improving access to care. She will address racial disparites that still exist in public healthcare.
Following the presentation and a refreshment break, roundtable discussions will be led by health experts Kyra Ledwell, MA, MSP (maternal care), Dr. James Coleman (men’s health), Laurie Strickland (autism), and Vanessa Adams (dementia). Time will be allotted for attendees to participate in two sessions of discussion.
