DESCRIPTION:Homeschooling? Want to get out of the house for an educational field trip? Join our Homeschool Day with a new topic each month! \nOnce a month\, the Rev War Center will offer a free homeschool educational day where small school groups can come together and experience one of the educational programs offered by the Center. A minimum of ten students will be needed to host these educational programs\, if the minimum is not met then parents will be notified a week prior that the program will be canceled. \nFor parents with scholars of multiple ages\, don’t fret. Children 7 years old or under will be given a fun coloring and activity packet to complete off to the side so the whole family can enjoy the day. \nMay: Archaeology & Forensics 101 \nUsing the example of Camden Burials (Battle of Camden archaeological dig)\, among others\, scholars will be taught the difference between what an archaeologist does\, a forensic anthropologist does\, and a historian does in their jobs\, and a broad overview about the process of an archaeological dig and what forensic analysis entails.

Kids to Parks Day connects kids and families with their local\, state\, and national parks and public lands through thousands of park events that promote discovery and exploration in the great outdoors.\n\nThe mission of Kids to Parks Day is to foster future outdoor enthusiasts and help with developing the next generation of park stewards by engaging kids in memorable outdoor experiences. SUMMARY:Whimsical Pet Sculpture Class
DESCRIPTION:Learn to sculpt using apoxy sculpt (a 2-part clay medium) and children’s bowling pins! All supplies are included with cost of the course of $150. No experience necessary! \nThe course is 2 parts. Both parts are included in the cost of the course. \nPart 1: The first session is 5/18 10am to 4:30 pm with a lunch break. The participant will learn how to sculpt a dog or a cat that can be made into a likeness of their own pet if desired.  The goal of this session is to complete the sculpture. \nPart 2: The second session is made by appointment with the instructor to paint the sculpture.  This can be completed in 2-3 hours. \nSupplies included: Apoxy sculpt\, sculpting tools\, wire\, filler materials ie bowling pin…\, paint and brushes\, softening materials\, gloves\, clean wipes… and mounting block.

SUMMARY:Camden Parlor Talk: The History of Black Baseball
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Stanton Green \nAs great as Jackie Robinson was\, he was not the first American Black Baseball Player. This presentation will show the ways baseball has reflected the role of African Americans in baseball especially beginning in the 19th century\, followed by the Jim Crow and Civil Rights Era where Jackie Robinson\, Larry Doby and so many other black ballplayers led the way toward racial equality in the US. This multi-media presentation includes power-point slides\, video\, and music. \nDr. Stanton W. Green is Professor Emeritus and dean of liberal arts (retired) at Monmouth University\, U.S.A. He served as lecturer at University College Cork in 1985. He holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the Stony Brook University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts\, Amherst. He taught for 18 years at the University of South Carolina.\nDr. Green has directed major archaeological research in South Carolina and Ireland and has published over 50 major papers and co-edited three major archaeological volumes. His latest publication (with C. Green and J. Schuldenrein) is Archaeology as a Public Good (2021) Archaeologies\, Journal of the World Archaeology Congress. His is currently director of the Creadan Archaeology Project an international heritage project on the first settlers of southeastern Ireland.\nHe has also researched baseball history for the past 30 years speaking and publishing on the history of baseball and why it is so important to American History. He has spoken at the National Baseball Hall of Fame\, the Little League Museum as well as many local historical societies\, libraries and local community centers about baseball and American history.
