Beer and wine are permitted on Town Green during the hours of the concerts. No glass containers are allowed on Town Green. In the event of relocation or cancelation due to weather\, notifications will be placed on the City’s website and Downtown Camden Cultural District social media channels. \nThe Blankets & Bands concert series is a partnership between the Downtown Camden Cultural District and the Arts Center of Kershaw County\, bringing free\, live music to the community during the spring and fall months.

DESCRIPTION:The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a seasonal USDA grant program that provides participants with access to fresh\, nutritious\, unprocessed fruits and vegetables from local farmers’ markets and is designed to increase awareness and use of community markets. \nSouth Carolina’s SFMNP began in 2001 as a six-county pilot project. SFMNP has since evolved\, currently providing benefits to seniors in 46 counties. The program provides qualifying individuals with checks/vouchers that may be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at local authorized farmers’ markets. DESCRIPTION:Books on Broad will host L. Glen Inabinet for a book signing and discussion\, celebrating the release of his latest book\, Mekong Memoirs. The event will take place on Saturday\, June 7 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. This event is free and open to the public. Books on Broad is located at 944 Broad St.\, Camden\, SC.\nFacing conscription\, University of South Carolina graduate L. Glen Inabinet entered the Army in 1968. Scarcely six months later\, he was fighting mud\, mosquitos\, and Vietcong adversaries in the heart of the Mekong Delts. Inabinet served as a member fo a 105mm howitzer section\, as a radio telephone operator with an artillery forward observer team\, and as a manager of his battery’s equipment records. He filled in on short-handed gun crews\, performed guard duty\, defended against enemy attack\, and countered stateside-based harassment with an unflagging sense of humor.\nInabinet’s account of his 401 days in Mekong\, enhanced by his photographs of Vietnam’s land and peoples as well as his near-daily letters to his wife\, provides unique insight into the GI’s daily grind and dangers. In a troubled war\, Inabinet remained convinved of the strengths of faith and of camaraderie with brothers-in arms.\nL. Glen Inabinet\, researcher\, photographer\, freelance writer\, and retired high school history teacher\, is active in local and state historical societies and veterans’ organizations. He lives in Camden\, South Carolina.

DESCRIPTION:ALL are welcome to join us in the spirit of unity and solidarity during the 5th Annual Kershaw County Juneteenth Celebration on Friday\, June 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Join in the celebration of the richness of African American culture and history. \nJuneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Today\, Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It’s a time for reflection and rejoicing. A time for assessment\, self-improvement\, and planning for the future. Although freedom continues to be challenged\, we are committed to striving for justice for all. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring their personal lawn chairs. There is no cost for any food or beverages being served. Enjoy a hot dog or perhaps some fried fish and fries\, all free of charge. \nThe Liberty Stage at Camden City Arena will showcase various artists and community leaders offering cultural expressions to celebrate the 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration. There will be music for all – gospel\, rap\, and everything in between – allowing us to dance in celebration of our greatness. Poets and dancers will also take the stage\, and special guests\, including the first Black mayor of Camden and other community leaders and activists\, will lift their voices in unity. \nDon’t miss the Empowerment Stroll\, where various vendors will provide valuable information to improve the quality of life for our citizens.
