SUMMARY:Camden District Resolves
DESCRIPTION:On November 5\, 1774\, Judge William Henry Drayton presided over the Circuit Court in Camden.  He delivered a rousing address to the jurors about the colony’s grievances with Great Britain.  The juror’s returned a statement which has been called a “little Declaration of Independence.”  Other circuit courts soon followed and South Carolinians edged closer to revolution. \nJoin us on November 1 to learn about the Camden District Resolves.  Witness the reenactment of the 1774 Grand Jury Presentment\, laying forth the principles for revolution two years before the Declaration of Independence.  Slide presentation begins at noon and a dramatic presentation will take place after the slide presentation.  Cookies and cider will be served after the program. \nThis event is presented by the Kershaw County 250th and Lee County 250 committees\, the City of Camden\, Southern Campaign 1780\, Historic Camden Foundation\, and the Camden Archives and Museum.  It is part of an entire month of activities related to the Revolutionary War and colonial life in Kershaw County.

DESCRIPTION:Presented by Kathryn Smith \nPresident George Washington’s 1791 Southern Tour was an extensive trip and marked his last formal visit to the original thirteen states. SUMMARY:Shop Small "Plaid Friday" & Small Business Saturday
DESCRIPTION:Join the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Camden Cultural District as they celebrate “Plaid Friday” November 29th and the 15th Annual Small Business Saturday®  on November 30th. Your favorite small businesses in Camden and Kershaw County have added great items to this year’s Shop Small goodie bags\, which will be available to the first 150 shoppers who stop by Broad Street Park\, on the corner of Broad and Rutledge Streets in Downtown Camden between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm on Friday the 29th. \n“Plaid Friday” is an alternative to the commonly known “Black Friday” where independent business advocacy groups encourage their communities to bring back the time when shopping for friends and family was a pleasurable leisurely activity.  It is celebrated throughout the nation as part of the “Shop Indie Local” campaign. \nOn its 15th annual Small Business Saturday this November\, American Express will donate $1 for each purchase made with an eligible American Express card at qualifying small businesses across the US to expand its grant commitment to support small businesses impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The company founded Small Business Saturday in 2010\, coming out of the U.S. financial crisis\, to help drive consumer spending to small\, independently-owned merchants and restaurants during the critical holiday shopping season.
