DESCRIPTION:Free concerts return to Town Green this fall\, with a variety of music on Thursday evenings in September and October. Get your blanket or lawn chair\, family and friends\, to enjoy live music outdoors. Bring a picnic dinner\, grab some takeout from your favorite local restaurant or enjoy food and beverages available for purchase on site. \nClosing out the fall Blankets & Bands concert series on Thursday\, October 26th is the Bout Tyme Band\, an ensemble of talented musicians playing jazz standards\, danceable pop songs\, and everything in between. Music begins at 6:00 pm with a local student musician as the opening act. Bout Tyme will play from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. \nBeer and wine are permitted on Town Green during the hours of the concerts. No glass containers are allowed on Town Green. In the event of cancelation due to weather\, notifications will be placed on the City’s website and Downtown Camden Cultural District social media channels.

This lecture focuses on the fascinating history of medicine in South Carolina from the 17th to the 21st centuries.” \nPresented by: Jacob Steere-Williams \nJacob Steere-Williams is a historian of epidemic disease\, particularly in nineteenth and early-twentieth century Britain and the former British colonies. But this year\, they want you out a day earlier\, as well! Join Amy Kinard\, director of the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and Kat Spadacenta\, Main Street manager for the City of Camden\, for their annual Shop Small tradition on “Plaid Friday” November 23 from 11 am to 1 pm\, as they hand out Shop Small bags stuffed with goodies from local businesses to the first 150 people who arrive at Broad Street Park\, at the corner of Broad and Rutledge Streets in Downtown Camden. “Plaid Friday” is an alternative to the commonly known “Black Friday” where independent business advocacy groups encourage their communities to bring back the time when shopping for friends and family was a pleasurable leisurely activity.  It is celebrated throughout the nation as part of the “Shop Indie Local” campaign. As in years past\, Kinard and Spadacenta are pledging to spend a significant amount of their gift giving budgets this holiday season at businesses within Kershaw County\, and this year they are challenging the community to do the same.

DESCRIPTION:Join KC Trails for the 3rd annual 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗸𝗲 at Goodale State Park.\nStart the New Year with a relaxing walk through the nature trail on January 1\, 2024 beginning at 2:00 pm.\nThis is a free family event and all are welcome! \nThis short out-and-back trail travels along the side of the lake at Goodale State Park. The trail begins near the canoe rack. The trail is flat for most of the way\, with roots to step over. There are several places that are nice for fishing\, as well as a few places where you can easily hike down to take in the peaceful scenery around the creek\, too. \nWildlife lovers would enjoy bringing binoculars to watch for birds and other creatures\, especially when you are back in the more wooded part of the trail.

Disney’s Finding Nemo Jr. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo\, with new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. \nMarlin\, an anxious and over-protective clownfish\, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo\, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney\, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory\, laid-back sea turtle Crush\, and the supportive Tank Gang\, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. \nFeaturing memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming\,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food\,” and “Go With the Flow\,” Finding Nemo Jr. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family\, friendship\, and adventure. \nThis show will be divided into a Kids (Grades 1-8) and Teen (Grades 9-12) production.\nAuditions for the Kids production will be held January 7 from 2:00 to 5:00pm and January 8 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. This year’s theme is “Living the Dream: It Starts with Me – Spreading Hope\, Courage and Unity”. \nChairwoman of the Concerned Citizens\, Ms. Ann Davis\, exclaimed\, “I always look forward to our gathering on MLK Unity Day to honor Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. and his legacy. He was an outstanding leader who fought so long and so hard for the rights and dignity of all people.
