SUMMARY:Homeschool Day: Colonial Living into the American Revolution
DESCRIPTION:Once a month\, the Rev War Center offers a free homeschool day where small school groups can come together and experience one of the educational programs offered by the Center. A minimum of ten students will be needed to host these educational programs\, if the minimum is not met then parents will be notified a week prior that the program will be canceled. Programs are geared toward students in 3rd grade through high school. Younger students are welcome to attend and follow along\, but will need the assistance of their guardian throughout the program. Lee Academy\, Bishopville\, S.C.\, 1980 graduate of Georgia Southern University\, B.S. degree in Journalism with History minor. \nProfessional: 1980 – 1982 – Staff reporter for Sumter (S.C.) The Item newspaper\, one of the oldest and largest dailies in the state. Covered various law enforcement agencies\, courts\, hospital board\, Air Force base news\, general assignments and wrote a tennis column. \n1982 –  1991 – staff writer for the Savannah Morning News and Savannah Evening Press. Primary duties were the police beat\, general assignments and consumer issues\, as well as rock concert reviews. SUMMARY:Blankets & Bands - Latin Caravan
DESCRIPTION:The Blankets & Bands free concert series returns to Town Green this fall on Thursdays\, September 18\, October 2\, October 16 and October 30. Bring your blanket or lawn chair and join friends and family for some live music outdoors in Downtown Camden. \nBlankets and Bands kicks off this fall on Thursday\, September 18th with the return of Latin Caravan. Move to the sounds of Latin Jazz\, Salsa\, Merengue\, and more. Bring a picnic or enjoy take out from one of the local restaurants. \nAll concerts will be held on Thursdays\, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm\, weather permitting\, with a student or young musician performing the opening act and the headlining band taking the stage at 6:30 pm. Beer and wine are permitted on Town Green during the hours of the concerts. No glass containers are allowed on Town Green. In the event of relocation or cancelation due to weather\, notifications will be placed on the City’s website and social media channels. \nThe Blankets & Bands concert series is a partnership between the Downtown Camden Cultural District and the Arts Center of Kershaw County\, bringing free\, live music to the community during the spring and fall months.

Fire Fest activities at the Arena are from 9 am until 1 pm. \nThis family friendly event allows residents and visitors learn about the importance of fire prevention and fire safety while enjoying live firefighting demonstrations and competitions\, as well as a live burn to show the basics of outdoor grill safety\, getting up close and personal with antique fire trucks\, and engaging in other live entertainment and games for all age.
