It will be an evening full of Motown\, Beach\, and Soul music\, with maybe a little Funk and Disco for fun. \nAll concerts will be held on Thursdays\, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm\, weather permitting\, with a student or young musician performing the opening act and the headlining band taking the stage at 6:30 pm. Beer and wine are permitted on Town Green during the hours of the concerts. No glass containers are allowed on Town Green. In the event of relocation or cancelation due to weather\, notifications will be placed on the City’s website and Downtown Camden Cultural District social media channels. \nThe Blankets & Bands concert series is a partnership between the Downtown Camden Cultural District and the Arts Center of Kershaw County\, bringing free\, live music to the community during the spring and fall months.

Join in the celebration of the richness of African American culture and history. \nJuneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Today\, Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It’s a time for reflection and rejoicing. A time for assessment\, self-improvement\, and planning for the future. Although freedom continues to be challenged\, we are committed to striving for justice for all. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring their personal lawn chairs. There is no cost for any food or beverages being served. Enjoy a hot dog or perhaps some fried fish and fries\, all free of charge. \nThe Liberty Stage at Camden City Arena will showcase various artists and community leaders offering cultural expressions to celebrate the 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration. There will be music for all – gospel\, rap\, and everything in between – allowing us to dance in celebration of our greatness. Poets and dancers will also take the stage\, and special guests\, including the first Black mayor of Camden and other community leaders and activists\, will lift their voices in unity. \nDon’t miss the Empowerment Stroll\, where various vendors will provide valuable information to improve the quality of life for our citizens. Gather important resources from organizations like DHEC\, healthcare providers\, bankers\, and more. There will be something for everyone to enjoy and learn from.\nYou’ll also have the opportunity to purchase small items from a few vendors\, but remember\, no food or entertainment comes with a cost. Fungi\, bacteria\, and invertebrates do the dirty work of decomposing living matter and recycling it back into the earth to become something new.
