SUMMARY:CUP FEST - Pre-Cup Street Festival featuring Mother's Finest
DESCRIPTION:Get ready to party with the legendary Mother’s Finest the day before the Carolina Cup! The first ever CUP FEST will take over Downtown Camden and is FREE to attend. \nExperience live music all day long on two stages! Local and regional acts will start the party at 12:00 pm on the Greener Pastures Brewing South Stage\, including Walker Gainey\, The Green Swamp Collective\, and Taylor Richardson and her band. Mother’s Finest takes to the mainstage at the intersection of Broad and Rutledge Streets at 6:00 pm. Free parking will be available at Camden City Arena\, 420 Broad Street\, and a free shuttle service will run from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm\, provided by the King Haigler Express. \nCUP FEST activities will also include a classic car cruise-in hosted by River Rat Classics\, a Kid Zone sponsored by The Haigler Hotel\, arcade games and mini golf for kids of all ages\, specials from downtown merchants\, street vendors and food trucks. In case of inclement weather\, the street festival will be canceled and the rain location for the Mother’s Finest concert will be Camden City Arena\, 420 Broad Street. Seating will be limited and occupancy will be limited to the first 1\,500 people. \nMothers Finest has always been a band impossible to force into artificially-labelled boxes. One of the most energetic and charismatic groups to cut a swath through the music industry\, Mothers Finest defies boundaries and creates its own genre. Led by superbly talented vocalists Glenn “Doc” Murdock and Joyce “Baby Jean” Kennedy\, and anchored by the tight\, crunchy rhythm section of Gary “Moses Mo” Moore and John “Red Devil” Hayes on guitars\, Jerry “Wyzard” Seay on bass\, and Dion Derek on drums\, Mothers Finest drives through the pocket like a Mack truck and peels the paint off the walls. Now past their fiftieth year of crushing the groove and bangin’ their fans’ heads upside\, Mothers Finest hasn’t lost any of their signature energy and passion. These veterans of the music industry – and Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductees – continue to tour\, delighting long-time fans and drawing many new ones into the fold. Come join us for this epic event! \nFree Parking Map\nFree Parking spots are indicated on the map above. A FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE is provided from the parking area at Camden City Arena (420 Broad Street) to the Shuttle Stop (indicated with a red star above) at Rutledge + Church Streets. The Shuttle Service is provided by King Haigler Express and will operate from 12 – 9 pm. \n  \nSPONSORED BY:\n\n\n  \n \n \n\n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:An Introduction to Historic Ceramics and Archaeological Curation
DESCRIPTION:NPS Curator Alicia Paresi on the power of curation: how the proper management of ceramic artifacts can lead to enduring insights \nAlicia Paresi is a registered professional archaeologist with three decades of experience in the private\, state\, and federal sectors. She has a passion for material culture and its potential to provide new historical insights. Proper curation practices are an essential part of the archaeological process that are too often skipped. However\, well-curated collections can be reanalyzed even decades later\, adding value to the original excavation. As the Northeast Region Archeology Curator with the National Park Service\, Alicia advises and trains parks on proper archeology collections management including identifying and dating all types of artifacts. \nThe event is in person\, but Alicia will be joining us remotely. The presentation will be streamed live at Liberty Hall in the Revolutionary War Visitor Center at Camden. \nRegistration is free\, but donations to the program are always greatly appreciated.

SUMMARY:Artifacts of His Majesty's Army: Archaeol. Evidence of the British Military
DESCRIPTION:Explore the tools\, kit\, and status markers of the British Army through the lens of archaeology. \nArtifacts of His Majesty’s Army: Archaeological Evidence of the British Military \nThis program explores the physical remains of British military camps during the period of the American Revolution. SUMMARY:Red Hot Chilli Pipers
DESCRIPTION:Bagpipes with attitude. Drums with a Scottish accent. A blazing rock band and show so hot\, it carries its own health warning! \nIt’s Bagpipes. It’s Rock. It’s Bagrock. AC/DC meets the poet Robert Burns. Where rock anthems sit comfortably alongside the great tunes from the glens and the mountains of Scotland. \nIt’s The Red Hot Chilli PIPERS – (NOT the Peppers!) — a 9-piece ensemble consisting of pipers\, guitarists\, keyboards\, and drummers — who have been rocking the world from New York to Beijing to Melbourne and everywhere in between with musicianship of the highest order and a passion for pipes that will leave you breathless. The band has four music degrees from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and all the pipers and drummers have played at the top level in bagpiping. \nFormed in 2002\, The Chillis have fast become a global phenomenon\, taking their signature ‘Bagrock’ sound to the masses with their unique fusion of rocked up Bagpipes and clever covers of popular songs from all genres. Their trademarked sound is a unique fusion of traditional pipe tunes – like “The Flowers of Scotland” and “Amazing Grace” (done Chilli-style\, of course!) — and contemporary anthems like Queen’s “We Will Rock You”\, “Clocks” by Coldplay\,  and a fantastic rock medley of “Deep Purple”\, “Smoke on the Water”\, and AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”! \nPraise for the Red Hot Chilli Pipers \n“These are my boys!” exclaimed Sir PaulMcCartney after rocking out to a Chilli performance. \n“Awesome!” said film star Ewen McGregor after he guested on drums with the Chillis \n“Gotta get me some of that Red Hot Chilli Pipers! I WANT some!” tweeted actor Samuel Jackson after seeing the band perform on NBC in the summer of 2012

SUMMARY:Ballistics of the Past\, Science of the Future: Analyzing Camden's Munitions
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the munitions recently recovered on the Camden battlefield and the forensic techniques that may reveal who fired them. \nBallistics of the Past\, Science of the Future: Analyzing Camden’s Munitions \nDr. Stephen Humphreys will provide an overview of the munitions assemblage from the recent 2025 and 2026 field seasons at Historic Camden. Traditionally\, 18th century munitions have been evaluated primarily by their caliber to identify the firearm and army of origin. However\, the make-up of the lead in the munition can tell a more complete story. Dr. Douglas D. Scott will discuss current practices in munition analysis. Trace element analysis has long been used in the study of archaeological ceramics and other objects. Relatively new nearly non-destructive and non-invasive sampling techniques now allow us to identify bullet lead sources giving archaeologists a better understanding of the lead trade in the latter part of the 18th and early part of the 19th centuries. The value of Portable X-Ray Fluorescence and Lead Isotope studies will be highlighted in this presentation. \nDiscover how identifying the origin of a munition can challenge traditional narratives of the battlefield and refine our understanding of 18th-century combat dynamics. \nThe event will be held at Liberty Hall at the Revolutionary War Visitor Center in Camden. \nRegistration is free\, but donations to the program are always greatly appreciated.
